As a result of a request of the Treasurer on 15 September 2016, the House of Representative’s Standing Committee on Economics undertook a review of the Four Major Banks and has released its First Report.
The report makes significant broad ranging recommendations that go beyond the banking sector and affect insurers, insurance brokers and agents and needs to be carefully considered. For example it recommends public reporting of breaches by AFSL holders.
