The General Insurance Code of Practice Governance Committee has released its General Insurance Code of Practice Industry Data Report for 2015-16 (the Report) which provides an overview of code compliance based on industry data supplied by subscribers to the General Insurance Code of Practice (the Code).

The 2015-16 year at a glance (retail insurance):  

Retail insurance
  • 44,171,089 policies issued
  • 270,799 claims withdrawn
  • 143,445 claims declined
  • 3,755,643 claims lodged
  • 28,587 internal disputes received
  • 5,021 self-reported code breaches
